About B&R

Born & Raised is a collaborative blog by four girls who have been best friends for what seems like forever. But because“forever” isn’t exactly a scientific unit of measurement, we’ll be a little more specific. Some of us have known each other since pre-school, but as a whole we all met for the first time back in first grade (~15 years ago) and attended school together until high school graduation. Well, with the exception of freshman year when one of us went somewhere else, but we try to forget about those dark days. Which brings us to today, too many years and fights and fits of laughter to count later, living proof that you actually can stay friends with the people you knew in high school. To be fair, we didn’t travel far, as we are all still attending school in (and around) our home state of Texas, but as far as we’re concerned it’s still an accomplishment.

The fact that we are all completely different from one another further complicates this 10+ year friendship – we are liberals and conservatives, sports fans and shopping addicts, Longhorns, Sooners, and Red Raiders – but that’s what makes us so unique. As we’ve grown through the years, we’ve been able to share our individual quirks with one another and create a dynamic unlike any other. We constantly joke with each other about the absurdity of our friendship and have, on more than one occasion, asked ourselves, “How are we even friends?” It’s not because it’s been so long and we’re too lazy to try to form new relationships that actually make sense (although that may or may not be a contributing factor). We’re friends because we love each other and truly grow with and learn from each other all the time. It also doesn’t hurt that we’re all obsessed with the greatest state in the nation, Texas – where we were born and raised.
